Opis

1. History

Tourret is a farm-made artisanal cheese produced by Jean-François Bandet in Lot-et-Garonne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine. It belongs to the tradition of Poitevine goat cheeses, with production similar to crottin but distinguished by ash. This rare cheese is made exclusively on the farm from milk of its 60 Poitevine goats.

2. Physical characteristics

Tourret is a fresh cheese from whole raw goat's milk, weighing about 300 g. Its white, smooth paste is covered with a thin black ashed natural rind. The texture is creamy, typical of soft farm cheeses.

3. Taste profile

It delivers a fresh, goaty taste typical of raw goat cheese, with a pronounced caprine aroma. The flavor is balanced, neither too acidic nor overpowering, perfect for goat cheese lovers. Its melting mouthfeel makes it delightful on toasts or cheese boards.

4. Production zone and period

Produced exclusively in Lot-et-Garonne (department 47), Nouvelle-Aquitaine, by a farm producer. Production follows the rhythm of Poitevine goats, mainly in spring and summer when milk is abundant. Available year-round but best fresh.

5. Certification

Tourret is a farm product without AOP, AOC, or IGP certification, highlighting its artisanal and local character. Its quality relies on the producer's expertise and raw Poitevine milk. No protected designation is associated with this rare cheese.
